A skip bin on Campbelltown council land needs 14 days' notice and A$10,000,000 cover

By Artigellence ·

Campbelltown City Council (South Australia) says you must get its permission to temporarily occupy council land, for example with a skip bin, that public liability insurance of at least A$10,000,000 is required, and that applications must be submitted at least 14 days before the proposed occupation date. The concrete pool removal page covers the rubble, and the Pool removal costs and rules check lists every council line with its source.

What the council says

Campbelltown City Council's page on undertaking works on council land says permission must be obtained from the council to temporarily occupy council land, for example the placement of skip bins.

It says public liability insurance of at least A$10,000,000 is required, and that applications must be submitted at least 14 days before the proposed occupation date.

Why it matters for a pool removal

A pool removal sends out a lot of rubble, and a bin on the verge is the usual way it leaves. Booking the job and the bin on the same day does not start the council's 14 days; the application does.

Which council covers the address

This is the South Australian council, not the New South Wales city of the same name. Other Adelaide councils run their own permits: the City of Marion requires a permit before a miniskip goes on the verge or roadway, and the City of Tea Tree Gully requires one for a bin, miniskip or shipping container on a public road, including the verge, and says fees apply.

What to ask the provider

Ask who applies for the permit, whether the permit and its fee are in the quote, and for the provider's insurance certificate, since the council asks for a minimum level of cover.

What could change

The council's page was read on 27 September 2026. Read its current page before you rely on the notice period or the insurance minimum.
