Pool Removal in Hallett Cove

Hallett Cove is in the City of Marion, whose own fact sheet separates the two routes: demolishing a structure in its entirety does not need development approval unless it is a heritage place, while partial demolition does. Full removal and fill-in are different questions here.

Pool Removal around Hallett Cove

The City of Marion says a permit must first be obtained from the council before a miniskip goes on the road verge or roadway. The contractor or site owner is responsible for damage to kerbs, water tables and footpaths during demolition, and the council advises giving it dated photos and measurements of any existing damage before work starts.

The council also says swimming pool water and backwash water should be directed to sewer. Confirm with the council before work starts, as the page's reading of whole demolition is the council's own and Adelaide councils do not all word it the same way.

Permits and City of Marion rules

Whether removing a pool needs a development application is for your council or PlanSA's approval wizard to say: the regulations take the demolition of the whole of a building out of the definition of development, unless it is a local heritage place or a building in a zone, subzone or overlay the Planning and Design Code identifies, and partial demolition is outside that exclusion.
